From "The Last Dragon:
Emily and Logan save the last dragon...

..."He must like something," Emily whispered quietly to Logan. And then she called out in a voice as sweet as honey and sugar cane.
"Dragon! Dragon, dear!"
"WHAT?" shouted the dragon. "Say that again!" he roared, the sound echoing from within the cave.
And they could hear the dragon coming toward them through the darkness of the cave. Emily shivered, her brown eyes for the first time revealing her true fright, a crawling sensation in her light brown hair. And then Emily said it again in a very small voice, "Dragon - Dragon dear!"
After a few moments of listening to the rattle of the dragon's approach, Emily and Logan saw the snout of the dragon begin to emerge from the depths of the cave.
Emily drew her sword, and Logan did the same but they did not attack, they moved slowly back as the dragon came out, all the vast scaly length of him, his great wings half spread with a silvery sheen gleaming like diamonds in the sun. With much smoke and fanfare the dragon was now before them.
The dragon drew nearer and nearer and, then, suddenly he stopped breathing fire and smoke. To the surprise and wonderment of Emily and Logan, the dragon began slowly crawling towards them, wriggling as a small puppy does when it wants to play and isn't quite sure whether you're cross with it.
And then they saw great tears streaming down the dragon's leathery cheek. Slowly Emily and Logan returned their swords back to their sheaths and stood in awe.
"Whatever's the matter?" asked Logan.
"Nobody," sobbed the dragon, "has ever called me 'dear' before!"
"Don't cry, dragon dear," said Emily. "We'll call you 'dear' as often as you like. We want to tame you."
"But I am tame," said the dragon, "that's just it. No one but you has ever taken the time to discover that I'm so tame that I'd eat out of your hands."
"Eat what, dragon dear?" asked Emily. "We have some chocolate chip cookies..." Logan quickly began rummaging through his packsack. But the dragon slowly shook its heavy head.
"Not cookies?" said Emily tenderly. "What then, dragon dear?"
"Your kindness quite undragons me," it said. "No one has ever asked any of us what we like to eat - always offering us presents, and then slaying us - and never once trying to find out what we really want. It's just so cruel. You have your parties and banquets, toasting each other's good health. No one has ever raised a glass to my health," and the dragon wept again.
"We would be so very honored to toast your health. But what do dragons like to drink - Bat's blood? Swamp water? The sweat from a witch's brow?"
The dragon turned his weepy eyes to Emily. "I think that I just might tell you since you asked me so friendly like - I trust you will not try to trick me. You see, I can never go outside in the rain as it puts out the fire that I breathe. To make matters worse, my hot breath evaporates the morning dew every time I lean down to lick this glistening nectar from a blade of grass. What I would really like to drink is the sweet taste of fresh rainwater and morning dew. I have never been able to get my fill of that."
